Really? If you are blaming your inaction on less than ideal circumstances, you've got it completely backwards. You see, there are things we can control and things we can’t. Do you think complaining about the things we have no control over will help improve our current situation, increase our happiness or get us closer towards our goals and dreams? It won’t. Let me recite the Serenity Prayer for you: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. When we make excuses as to why we “can’t” do something, what we are really doing is letting our current circumstances influence our future behavior. What do you want? What are you willing to work for? What are you committed to? These are all questions to ask yourself if you want to stop making excuses and start living the fulfilled life you were called to live. Our lives are little more than a series of choices, not circumstances. I hear every day: The circumstances of today will define my future! Wait, that’s not right! This common statement is often followed by an exclamation point, but why? I choose to say: The choices of today will determine the life I live tomorrow. This statement comes from a place of gratitude and opportunity. Will you let your current circumstances define your future or will you make choices to shape your future?
